AMENTI | A MoveMeant Lab exploring and Re-imagining the meaning of Being

Amenti - Regenerative Being

This immersive 8-day course is a transformative journey into the wisdom of our bodies. Through dance, movement, (Jungian) psychology, somatic knowledge, we unveil the often untapped consciousness of the body.

This course is not just about understanding the Regenerative Beings that we are; it's about equipping you with practical tools you can apply daily and empowering you to take charge of your well-being and personal growth.

We often find ourselves grappling with daily triggers, trauma, and the complexities of life. While a wealth of knowledge is available, such as Freud's psychoanalysis, it often falls short in the heat of the moment. We need something tangible, easy, and quick. This is where our bodies come in, providing us with the necessary information to navigate life's challenges.

Through this course, we will understand the deep wisdom of our body and the connection between our body, mind, and soul.

We are, in essence, holistic beings. Still, we learn to neglect parts of our system, distrust or misinterpret our instincts, intuition, and body's signs, often leading to mental or physical sickness. These signs are there to help us along our daily lives, but due to neglect, abuse, and misunderstanding, we human beings, on a collective level, are at disease.

We can become whole again when we learn to listen to the body and understand that not everything in this world is solved through the mind. We learn to use the body's Regenerative properties.

This course involves daily dance, movement practice, theory, meditation, and medicine. Brave Earth provides a space to stay and on-site food during the day.

Amenti MoveMeant is a community-based organization and a decolonial psyche-somatic MoveMeant medicine. The foundation of our Method and our way of working as a team lie in the pillars of the original hip-hop culture: peace, Love, Unity, Respect, Having Fun, and Self Knowledge.

Gil' The Grid' Gomes Leal, our organization's founder and the Method we use, was a professional hip-hop dancer for years before developing our teachings. The Amenti MoveMeant Method is a way of becoming more self-aware through the use of the body. We see our human experience as a holistic system - consisting of the body, the mind, and the soul (or spirit). The Method comprises dance, (Jungian)psychology, somatic exercises, and shamanism. We combine knowledge from all corners of the world to give a complete understanding of life. We find harmony, agency, and self-acceptance when we understand our individual choices and their effect on our lives.

Community, the collective, is an innate and essential element in everything we do. To understand ourselves is to understand the other, and vice versa. Other people are our mirrors and teach us much about our choices, experiences, traumas, and joys. This is why everything we teach is taught in groups. Allowing others into our healing journey creates empathy and connection.

Amenti MoveMeant's Method is a transformative method created by Gil Gomes Leal. It spreads awareness about the connection between the body and mind and gives tools for expanding self-expression and awareness. The Method consists of seven layers, each connecting to a specific life area.

Through our workshops and courses, you can learn from us, as well as our expertise in dance and understanding of the human mind and ego. We work with the body in connection to the mind because they are interconnected. Approaching our human experience holistically gives us agency over our lives and gets us in tune with all the subtle messages our body and mind give us daily.

ARC OF EXPERIENCE

Day 1 | December 2
Introduction day and Attunement to the body - Layer of physicality -Earth
A day dedicated to getting into the body - finding a home forever with us.
Our body is our first home, and our family (or tribe)  is our second. - this day is dedicated to discovering the physical body and our relationship with trust and fear.
How safe do we feel in our body and in our tribe or our surroundings?

Day 2  | December 3
Emotional landscape - Layer of Sensations - Water
Gaining a deeper understanding of the messages our emotions give us and becoming more intelligent in reading our emotions and those of others.

Emotions are messengers, here to be received - but we still choose how to react to them. We must learn how not to either;
- ignore the messenger
- identify with the messenger

We need to understand what the message is telling us and be attuned to the body.
Discovering our emotional landscape often confronts us with those emotions that are hard to tap into and those that we over-identify with.

Day 3 | December 4
Discovering limitations - Layer of Power - Fire
Boundaries, our own and those of others.

How well do we know our boundaries? Do we cross them easily, emptying our tank too quickly? Do we set unnecessary boundaries out of fear to stay comfortable and thus not grow? This day is dedicated to discovering our (will)power. How much power do we hold? And where are our limitations?
We will learn that not knowing how much power we actually hold, is a dangerous act to ourselves and our environment.

Temazcal - to shed the limitations we put on ourselves that hold us back.

Stepping into the layers that transcend the ego (on the following days): connection, vibration, and symbols - it is beneficial to let go of patterns that don’t serve us consciously.

Day 4 | December 5
Spacious Relationships - Layer of Connection - Air
Finding healing in spacious connectivity - allowing ourselves the time and space to expand our body and mind.

Expansion and spaciousness can only happen when we destroy, decay, and let that part die that no longer serves us. Destruction is something we looked at on Day 3 - where does the destruction give space to?

What can we now rebuild?

When we build from a space beyond ego, we can build honest relationships with ourselves, our friends, family, romantic partners, the environment, and the world.

Day 5 | December 6

Hike
Children’s Eternal Rainforest Tour
Observing and Witnessing the regenerative force of nature all around us.

Day 6 | December 7
Authentic Expression - Layer of Vibrations - Sound
Exploring storytelling through the body and finding it vital to be clear in our expression. Overdoing or exaggeration, for example, colors our story in ways we want. But what is factual? What is true?
What is our perception, and what is truth?

Learning to express ourselves authentically and in truth allows us to grow and harmonize with all around us, leaving no room for lies and manipulation toward others.

Sound healing/voice activation

Day 7 | December 8

Integrating through Symbols - Layer of Symbols - Light
Ending the retreat with a focus on integration through symbolic movement and gaining a deeper understanding of symbols - keys that hold universal information.

We discover, connect, and understand our inner and outer worlds through symbols. We must find time to integrate, especially after processing much information.

Integration, the process of ensuring that what we absorb stays with us, is facilitated by symbols. These symbols are crucial in categorizing and shaping our intellectual knowledge, enlightening us about their pivotal role in the integration process.

In MoveMeant, we translate the integration process into creating symbols with our bodies. By incorporating our whole Self (body, mind, and spirit), we connect the dots and allow ourselves to feel, understand, and sense our environments. This approach gives our bodies a significant role in understanding cognitive concepts, fostering a holistic understanding that can transform into wisdom through fully experiencing the moment.

TIERRA VALIENTE | BRAVE EARTH

Brave Earth is located between San Ramon and La Fortuna, nestled in between Arenal Volcano and the Children’s Eternal Rainforest, the largest reserve of protected wildlife in Costa Rica.

As a living lab, we have experimented with different building modalities using AirCrete and materials sourced on the land including bamboo and adobe. We have implemented biophilic design, closed-loop systems and permaculture design principles. Ornamental, food, and medicinal gardens surround the center as well as hiking trials to a nearby river, and a natural swimming pond.

CULTURES OF TRANSITION

The impulse for Tierra Valiente stems from an awareness of our civilizational trajectory within the dominant culture with its source code of extraction, domination, commodification, colonization, control, entitlement, and separation from the living world.

We are both informed by this critical lens and inspired to create outside of the old values and incentive landscapes to build a culture based on reciprocity, regeneration and resiliency.

In this collective transition - whether you call it the Anthropocene, the Kali Yuga, late-stage capitalism or capitalist modernity - our intention is to become more attuned to this cultural context in order to decolonize the conditioning of the dominant system and be in deeper service to our collective potential.

Our living lab is located on the northwestern Caribbean slope of Costa Rica, about 2.5 hours from San Jose. We have created an 80-acre commons nestled between the Children’s Eternal Rainforest, one of the largest protected regions of rainforest north of the Amazon and Volcano Arenal.

Juan Santamaria International located in San Jose is the nearest airport to Brave Earth. We are approximately a 2.5h drive from San Jose.

We are located 11 miles south from La Fortuna Arenal Area in a community called San Isidro de Peñas Blancas, La Fortuna, Alajuela.
